The concept of "social responsibility" is considered from philosophical, moral, pedagogical, legal and psychological aspects. Attention is mainly paid to responsi-bility as a category of social philosophy. It is noted that in terms classical philosophy, responsibility is unambiguously correlated with freedom as a cognized, realized necessity and, as a result, is largely retrospective. In non-classical philosophy, responsibility, freedom and necessity are in not so unambiguous and definite correlations. The article provides an overview of the most important theoretical studies and methodological approaches on the topic in the field of social philosophy. It is concluded that the concept of social responsibility is becoming more and more interdisciplinary. In philosophy, this concept becomes as generalized as possible and acquires a categorical status.
