The moral paradoxes associated with the fundamental categories of "good" and "evil" are analyzed. These paradoxes are real, and they require real solutions. Religion interprets the concepts of good and evil in an absolute modality, whereas secular ethics does it in a relative modality. It is very important not to cross the line that separates the real paradoxes of good and evil from sophistry, which generally erases the boundaries between them. For example, a person claims: "the more I do evil, the more good can come of it". In fact, it is likely that he / she only makes the evil in the world stronger. In Russia, a legal decision seems fair, if only it is moral. The legal aspect is usually not taken into account. In this respect, the nature of Russian nihilism becomes clear.
